Spring Concert - Tickets on sale!

Our Spring Concert last year was a sell-out, received a standing ovation and was widely praised. This year’s concert, on Saturday 12th May at  The Catholic Church of Christ the Prince of Peace in Weybridge promises to be even better.

Our varied programme has something for everyone and designed to be entertaining and uplifting, but reflective and moving also. We include songs from musical shows, spirituals, Welsh hymns, traditional songs and ballads plus choral arrangements of popular modern numbers. There will be several pieces you’ve not heard from us for some years and some entirely new pieces, including Baba Yetu, the stirring Swahili version of The Lord’s Prayer, and a wonderful arrangement of Snow Patrol’s ‘Run’.

You’ll also love both our soloists this year.  Our guest soprano will be 16 year old Katie Marshall, a rising star in the classical music world, who will be singing six well-known and popular songs and arias.

And we will also welcome back Gareth Giles, a great long term friend of the choir, who will be performing solos on both piano and organ in his own inimitable style.

Tickets @ £10 each are available from our On-Line shop  or by phone from 01252 326514

Mayor's Charity Concert raises £3,600

Around 200 local singers and musicians joined forces on Friday 6th April to help raise in excess of £3600 for the Mayor of Elmbridge’s chosen charity, Cobham-based Oasis Children’s Charity.
Weybridge Male Voice Choir, Elmbridge Choir, and the 1st Claygate Scout and Guide Band, performed to a full and appreciative audience at ACS Cobham International School at a concert organised by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Rachael Lake.
‘It was a fantastic evening – fun and entertaining and we all enjoyed every moment,’ says Rachael. ‘Both choirs and the band performed brilliantly, complementing each other in their own unique style. I am delighted that we raised such an amazing amount for my charity and I would like to thank ACS Cobham for hosting the event, as well as the organisers and performers for giving up their time to support me.’

Our MD's Vision for the Choir

Weybridge Male Voice Choir has been performing to audiences and raising money for good causes and national and international charities for nearly one hundred years. I consider it a real honour to be the Musical Director of this choir, and my hope and expectation is to take the choir to new heights. Every Musical Director has a different approach and different views on where they would like their choir to be. I feel it is important to share these views with you, the choir and audience.

Autumn Concert Success

Choir and audience alike enjoyed another successful Autumn Concert on Saturday 16th November at the Catholic Church of Christ the Prince of Peace in Weybridge.  We were joined once again by guest artists the Chris Winslet Trio who once more provided an entertaining contrast with their jazz offerings - and combined with the choir for the final two numbers.

The bucket collection for The Prostate Project amounted to a generous £648, which with Gift Aid added resulted in a total of £810.

On the folllowing day the choir performed at the Walton Leisure Centre as part of the Activity Day, and, judging by the enthusiastic response, made a number of new fans!
