UPDATE ON ED PEPPER (from Johnny)
Both Staveley and I went to see Ed, Karen and the family on Sunday as we had heard from Karen to say that he had gone downhill massively and it was only a matter of time. He was discharged from hospital on Thursday as they didn't want any further interventions. He isn't taking on any food or fluid now and is unresponsive. It was sad to see him in such a way. I took my little speaker and played him three songs I knew he loved: Evening's Pastorale, The Long Day Closes and My Evaline. Although there was no conducting this time we think he was enjoying listening to them. Karen asked if we could sing Can't Help Falling In Love on Tuesday as apparently he always used to look at her in concert instead of watching the conductor!
I'm sure you'll join us in keeping Ed, Karen and their family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
